In order to speed up access to health information, Google Cloud has partnered with a number of healthcare providers to introduce a number of healthcare data engine (HDE) accelerators.
The business stated in a news release on Monday that “often, the information healthcare executives and administrators need is segregated and isn’t simple to access” (Nov. 14). It could be dispersed across several IT systems that don’t communicate with one another or hidden away in the medical record.
Interoperability, or the betterment of data flow and unification across healthcare systems, is essential for making businesses more productive, enhancing patient care, and enabling people to live healthier lives.
According to the press release, the accelerators will be accessible the next year and will use the Cloud’s infrastructure to offer HIPAA compliance and client data security.
Google said that the HDEs will concentrate on three areas. The HDE provides tools to enable healthcare organizations to link patients with local resources in the first area, which is health equity. One would assist healthcare firms in examining patterns and figuring out “important population health measures by merging claims and clinical data,” while another will deal with value-based care.
Regarding the third, the patient flow will be addressed. Health systems will be assisted in “understanding a broad variety of patient flow measures to uncover patterns, possible causes, and bottlenecks to help shape clinical operations performance goals.”
Healthcare data pipelines are notoriously disjointed and inefficient, adding money, time, and worry to already stressful medical circumstances, as highlighted in September. It’s a sector in need of change, but it’s strangely falling behind the digital transformation pace that is reimagining other aspects of daily life.
