- Name: Vidya Raman-Tangella
- New title: Chief medical officer at Teladoc, the largest telehealth company in the U.S.
- Previous title: General manager of healthcare and life sciences solutions, Amazon Web Services
Raman-Tangella will oversee Teladoc’s enterprise clinical strategy, quality control, and research with a particular focus on health equity, clinical evidence, best practices, and physician training, the virtual care vendor said in a statement on Monday.
On new goods, the executive will collaborate with teams from engineering and product. Since Bimal Shah, Teladoc’s prior medical officer, left the company early this year to found rural value-based care startup Homeward, the CMO position has been vacant.
According to New York-based Teladoc, Raman-Tangella has worked in the sector for more than two decades, concentrating on combining science and technology to develop new models, products, and tools for disease prevention and individualized patient experiences.
From the Amazon subsidiary AWS, where she oversaw strategy for healthcare solutions, Raman-Tangella joins Teladoc.
She formerly held executive positions at a number of healthcare organizations, according to LinkedIn, including director of innovation at Johnson & Johnson and chief medical officer at conversational AI firm HIA. Raman-Tangella created and tested brand-new integrated health and wellness solutions for companies and health plans for UnitedHealthcare between 2011 and 2017.
She is now officially in her new position, reporting to Teladoc CEO Jason Gorevic.
