Nokia has announced that its cloud-based subscription service will be available soon. This service aims to provide software for telecom firms in the areas of analytics, security, and data management.

Some of the company’s software services are already offered on a subscription basis, and additional commercialized services are expected to arrive in the following year. Senior Vice President Mark Bunn stated that the company has sought to enter the subscription market since starting its software division in 2016. Customers may also try the platform service for a limited time before committing to a long-term commitment, according to the business. They’ve created the foundational technologies that will allow it to scale up. Nokia has already begun discussions with potential clients and is aiming for a 3.1 billion dollar market between 2021 and 2025. They anticipate a 20 percent to 30 percent yearly increase.

Nokia claims that its communication providers will benefit from a faster time to value for network services thanks to their software offering. They hope to provide telecom operators with a more cost-effective, flexible, and customer-centric approach to operating their networks and providing new services.

According to the firm, this is a logical extension of Everything-as-a-Service, which is a key component of the company’s overall strategy. Nokia has opted to reorganize its software applications to make them completely cloud-native and deployable in any cloud environment, including edge, public, and private cloud environments.

The company’s strategy will decrease complexity by delivering revolutionary software that can be accessed on-demand via a subscription, eliminating huge outlays. Due to the increased number of access points in networks, 5G services will introduce a slew of new security threats. As a result, communication service providers will need an automated defense that will significantly minimize the cyber-attack danger known as the NetGuard Cyber Security Dome. Nokia also expects to release SaaS-based Nokia Anomaly Detection in 2022, which will be commercially available.
